Who were Australia’s shortest and longest serving prime ministers?

Frank Forde is Australia's shortest-serving prime minister, holding office for only 8 days from 6 to 13 July 1945. As deputy prime minister, he acted in the role following the death of Prime Minister John Curtin, serving until the Labor Party chose a new leader.

Robert Menzies is our longest-serving prime minister. He was in office twice, from 1939 to 1941 and from 1949 to 1966. Altogether he was prime minister for over 18 years.
