Resource description

Explore democratic ideas and political processes through role-play, negotiation and problem solving with these activities. Each can be modified for different year levels.

All of the activities in this booklet are aligned to the critical and creative thinking, and ethical understanding general capabilities of the Australian Curriculum, as well as the Civics and Citizenship curriculum.

With the classroom activities in Teaching civics and citizenship, your students can:

• make a law in either the Senate or House of Representatives.
• investigate the three levels of government by deciding how to manage a major event.
• explore different ways to make group decisions.

How can it be used?

These activities use role-play, negotiation and problem solving to engage students in learning. Use the activities on their own or in conjunction with our Classroom activities.
