What are the rights and responsibilities of an Australian citizen?
Great question.
Our rights as Australian citizens include:
- right to safety
- freedom of speech
- freedom of religion
- freedom of assembly.
Our responsibilities as Australian citizens are that we:
- obey the law
- defend Australia should the need arise
- vote in elections and referendums
- serve on a jury if called to do so.
If you want to know more about rights and responsibilities of Australian citizenship, take a look at the Department of Home Affairs information on being an Australian citizen.
