I have a research activity on Australian Government and am trying to figure out the total number of parties available in Australia
There are many political parties in Australia. Some are represented in local government, state/territory parliaments and the Australian Parliament and some are not. The Australian Electoral Commission runs federal elections and keeps a list of all political parties currently registered to take part in federal elections. Each state and territory also has its own electoral commission to run its elections and register political parties. Local government elections are run by the electoral commission in the relevant state or territory.
How to form a political party.
