‘I rise today to recognise and commend the incredible work done by the team in the Parliamentary Education Office here in Parliament House,’ said Ms Celia Hammond. Ms Hammond expressed her support for the Parliamentary Education Office and its move towards digital education during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that the number of video conference programs with schools across Australia had more than tripled since 2019.

Ms Hammond was speaking during Statements by members, which is also known as 90 second statements. This is a time set aside for any member of the House of Representatives to speak about any subject they choose. Members often choose to speak about important national issues or matters of importance in their electorate and, as the name suggests, speeches are limited to 90 seconds.
