The standing orders—the rules—of the House state that a Member may bring ‘an infant being cared for by a Member’ into the house, and must ‘bow to the Speaker on entering or leaving the house’.
Mother and daughter bow to tradition
The new Member for Lilley, Ms Anika Wells MP, took her daughter into the House of Representatives and was photographed bowing to the Speaker, with her daughter following her example.
