FAQs about our website

Frequently asked questions about the PEO website, including why the website was redeveloped, what has happened to all the content and how you can provide feedback about the website.

What has happened to all the content on the old PEO website?

All the content on the old PEO website—except for the lesson plans—has been transferred to the new website. The names of some resources have been changed so that it is easier to understand what it is about. Content is now arranged by topic, although you can use the tags (at the end of a content page) to view all the content in a certain format (eg videos, fact sheets).

The lesson plans have been replaced by Classroom activities. You may recognise some of the activities and some are new. These activities are better linked to the Australian Curriculum and provide flexibility for teachers.

Can I still use the old website? Will my saved links work?

No. The old PEO website has been shut down. Your saved links will automatically redirect to the new website.

If you don’t like the new website, let us know why. Your feedback will help us continue to improve the PEO website and make sure it works for you into the future.

I want to see a list of all the videos available.

If you would like a list of all the videos on the PEO website you can:

  • Search for ‘video’, or
  • On a video page, click on the video tag at the bottom of the page.

How can I get a PDF of a fact sheet?

A PDF version of each fact sheet is no longer available but you can create your own.

To create a PDF of a fact sheet or any page on the PEO website you will need PDF creation software. There are lots of free options available on the internet if your device doesn’t have the software already installed. Then:

  • Go to Print
  • Change the destination to ‘Save as PDF’ (or something similar)
  • Save the PDF

I am using Internet Explorer and this website doesn't work properly.

Internet Explorer has been discontinued by Microsoft. It is no longer being updated, which means it is unable to load some of the features of the PEO website. If you are having this issue, we recommend installing a new website browser.

Why did you need to redevelop the website? How is this better for me?

The PEO is committed to educating Australians about our parliamentary democracy by providing information and resources that are accessible to and meet the needs of users. To continue to do this, the PEO website needed to be redeveloped.

To keep meeting the needs of users, the new website:

  • Continues to deliver our great information and resources but in a new content structure that makes finding content easier
  • Has a purpose-built search function to allow users to pin-point the exact content they are looking for
  • Is made for mobile devices (and looks just as good on a desktop computer)
  • Is easier to change and update, so that it has up-to-date information
  • Meet the requirements of the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.0 (WACG 2.0) at level AA.

How can I provide feedback?

We encourage you to provide feedback on the PEO website, resources and programs. Use the contact form, email us or give us a call to let us know what you think.
